Da Nang is touted as one of the most livable and beautiful city in Viet Nam. The city owns beautiful scenery, charming beaches, famous bridges, and a lot of attractive amusement parks. Moreover, it grabs travelers by sacred pagodas on majestic mountains. Follow me to discover these pagodas.

Da Nang has a lot of pagodas but it is the most famous for the Ling Ung pagodas. These are Son Tra Linh Ung Pagoda, Non Nuoc Linh Ung Pagoda and Ba Na Linh Ung pagoda.

  1. Son Tra Linh Ung Pagoda

It is the largest pagoda in Da Nang city in both size and art architecture. This pagoda is located in the tourist area of Son Tra peninsula and was built in the 18th century during the reign of Emperor Minh Mang. Nowadays, it was restored with the harmonious combination between the modern and traditional features of the Vietnamese pagoda. It is regarded as the place converging the sanctity spirit of heaven and earth and is attractive tourist destination of this beautiful coastal city.

The sanctum is solemn and tranquil, worshiping the statues of Shakyamuni Bodhisattva, Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva and Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva. The 18 Arhat stone statues in front of sanctum is one of the most outstanding features of Linh Ung Pagoda. Each of them expresses the human emotions of joy, anger, love and sadness. The pagoda has become a place of worship, activities, study of monks and nuns, as well as a place of sightseeing for travelers from all over the world.

The 67m-high Buddha Lady statue – the highlight of this pagoda setting in 35m-diameter lotus-shaped platform and looks forward to the sea. Inside the statue, there are 17 levels, each level has 21 Buddha statues with different appearances, expressions and gestures. From these towers, travelers can have amazing view of all city. Farther in sight, travelers can easily see Marble Mountains and Da Nang Beach.

Linh Ung pagoda

  1. Non Nuoc Linh Ung Pagoda.

Non Nuoc Linh Ung Pagoda is located on the Thuy Son mountain – one of the five mountains in Marble Mountain. It is in Hoa Hai Ward, Ngu Hanh Son District, about 8km from the center of Da Nang City. The pagoda was built during the 18th century and is an ancient pagoda of nearly 200 years.

This pagoda is not as large as Son Tra Linh Ung Pagoda. There is also a 10m-high white Buddha Statue looking toward the pagoda. The 30m-high tower with 7 levels is a place of worshiping more than 200 stone statues. Coming here, travelers will get the experience of the pagoda’s spiritual and mysterious beauty.

  1. Ba Na Linh Ung Pagoda.

Linh Ung Pagoda is located on a prime location at the height of nearly 1,500m from the sea level. In front of the pagoda, there is an astonishing pine with three different kinds of leaves. The 27m-high white Buddha Statue is the highlight of this pagoda. This is the biggest meditate Buddha statue in the Asia.
